Work continued in clearing the tile concentration in aB/59-61. Minimal tile amd plaster and a few chunks of slag were recovered. Several seeds similar to the oen recovered and catalogued on 13 June (see p.27 ) were found as was an ivory or bone (or iron?) 'inlay'. Small flecks of burn material again appeared.
The west baulk in a/59-60 to the south were cleaned down. Moving south only a few small pieces of plaster were observed and a few tiles and pieces of plaster were left in the baulk.
The pan-tiles in V-W767-68 continued to be uncovered and were photographed. There was evidence of great damage to the west in particular. Apparently what remailed 'in situ' was the lower tile with a smaill piece of its own western flange intact. The southern portion of this tile was also badly damaged. Only a few fragments remain of the upper tiles. In conparing the remains with last year's photos it must be determined what was recent damage and what was ancient damage not previously visible - particularly to the east. A deep trench runs through the floor to the east side of the tiles, approx. a meter in length. To the north and south it was uncertain if it continued.
The baulk in R/60-62 continued to be cleaned. Very little burn was in evidence. There was plaster present in the soil above a line of tiles beginning at approx. 45 cm with tiles at 60-65 cm (right at the fill-floor level). It is important to remember that there is a major tile concentration in this area under the fill.
The baulk at M-S/82 was cleaned down. All along the baulk tiles projected and some tile and plaster was recovered.

Pithos fragments and plaster were separated from the tiles reserved from the robbed cleanup in order to facilitate the search forjoins with the pan-tiles in VW/67-68. Work continued cleaning down the floor and the tiles in aB/59-61.
