Photos taken in the morning: detail of stone concentration and plaster in H-I/43-42.

Removed stones and plaster from H-I/43-42 and began picking down to a depth of 130cm.  The dark burn layer was encountered between teh stones with the yellow-brown clay-like soil underneath.  All material was found in the burn layer.  While the yellow soil was relatively devoid of material.  Recovered 1/2 cassetta of tile (1/4 Cassetta) and plaster (1/4 cassetta) as well as 1 1/2 latte boxes of pottery and bone.  Also found 2 pieces of cut bone (finds #4 and 7); a piece of ridged pottery (find #2); the stamped head of a rochetto (find #5); a piece of painted creamware (find #6); an amorphous piece of iron (find #8); and a large piece of poss. slag (find #9).

Cleaned baulks in H-I/46-44, found 1/12 cassetta of tile and plaster; 1/3 latte of bone and pottery; find #1, a piece of incised pottery; and an incised and painted fragment of creamware (find #3, poss. Italo-Corinthian).

Defined up to stones in H-I/46 down to 140cm.  Soil was still 2 or 3cm of burn layer over the yellow soil, and yielded 1/2 dozen pieces of tile and plaster and 4 small pieces of pottery.
