Excavation began this morning with the same goal as the past two days: to continue to expose, define, and clean the curvilinear rock feature in Locus 2 and Locus 3 , as well as to clarify the relationship with the rock grouping in the southwest corner of VT14 . To this end, soil was loosened along and above the rock feature in Locus 2 and Locus 3 . This soul was then sorted into buckets by hand. Tile and plaster was sorted into bowls, and pottery was sorted into boxes. During the course of this work, is was discovered that a second layer of rocks exists underneath several of the uppermost rocks, and these rocks continue uninterrupted, moving from S-SW to N-NE in the southern meters of VT11. Frequent inclusions of tile and pottery were found along the northern side of the feature in Locus 3 in the eastern

2m of the trench. Along the southern side of the rock feature in Locus 2 , similar inclusions were found. The pottery was mostly coarseware and storage vessels, but two special finds were found: one sherd of pottery with a red fabric and white slip and another sherd with a fine red fabric and a glossy black surface. The soil continued to be a clay-sand mix that was densely-compacted except from one small patch of sandy soil in Locus 3 approximately 2m from the western trench line; the patch measured approximately 50 x 50cm. One additional special find was found in Locus 2 \x97a large storage rim sherd. Work was discontinued in the later morning due to rain.
