Completed yesterday's cut through meters E84, S18-20. The level of the trench is approximately 10 cm b.s. throughout.

Another cut was begun in meters E77, S18-20 through E79, S18-20. the topsoil remained consistent with that removed in previous days. It was grayish-brown with frequent small stones, although roots were less thick. The soil continues to be designated Locus 1. All tile and ceramic quantities will be recorded in the afternoon.

Underlaying the Locus 1 soil in meters E79-80, S19-20 was a yellowish-brown soil.

Finished 3rd cut through topsoil starting from the west and moving through E77-84/S18-20. The soil was consistent with the Locus 1 soil and thus maintains that designation. Found in Locus 1 were approximately 65 pieces of tile and 7 pieces of pottery, of which one was modern with glaze on it. the depth ofthe trench is now 10-15 cm. Numerous stumps were removed in the process of finishing the cut, as were a fair amount of rocks which measured 5-8 cm in width.
