Overall, 1089 sherds of pottery were found in T-78 in 2015. Of this, 64% came from the first four loci, which were not contextually secure; these loci represent dump soil from earlier years of excavation and the topsoil underlying the dump. Of securely contextualized loci, the highest amount of pottery was recovered from Locus 5 , with 25% of all pottery found in T-78, followed by Locus 7 , where 8% of pottery was recovered; these were the only two contextualized loci excavated, since no work was done in Loci 6 and 8 .
Impasto was by far the most common type of pottery found in T-78. On average, roughly 80% of all ceramics found in each loci were impasto. There are two exceptions to this, not counting baulk trim. In Locus 1 , impasto amounted to only 60% of the ceramic assemblage, while coarseware was better represented, totaling 32% of all ceramics in this locus. In contrast, in Locus 7 , a securely contextualized locus overlying the newly discovered building's functional floor surface, impasto amounted to 96% of all ceramics found. Coarseware and fine impasto were found in far smaller quantities and proportions than impasto, but these were found in roughly equal proportions; in Locus 1 and Baulk Trim, coarseware was slightly more common than fine impasto, while in Loci 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , and 7, fine impasto was slightly more common than coarseware. Bucchero was exceptionally rare in T-78.
Although over 1000 sherds of pottery were found in T-78, virtually no chronologically diagnostic ceramic sherds were recovered. The one possible exception to this is an incised bucchero rim, with two parallel lines of incised dots, below which are hash marks that begin at a tapered point and appear to widen near the break edge. This sherd, which came from Locus 5 , a securely contextualized stratum, resembles similar examples found within other 7th century monumental buildings at Poggio Civitate, possibly indicating that the newly discovered building was contemporary with OC 1 Residence, OC 2 Workshop, and OC 3 Tripartite.
