Excavation continued in locus 2 this morning.  The large tree trunk, which was in the center of the trench was removed.

P.M.

Excavation continued in locus 2 this afternnon.  This locus contains very few stones that are fist size or larger.  Approximately 1 1/3 bowls of terracotta fragments were recovered.  Included in the terracotta were four fragments of pithos.  Two fragments of bulk bronze were found.  Three fragments of shell were found, one of which is probably petrified.  One small boar tusk was found.  The trench was lowered approximately 15 cm. today.  A modern key for opening a can was found while sorting soil.  It's presence is probably due to root action from the tree whose trunk was removed today.
