P.M.

After a long interval work in the trench was resumed.  THe are to the nroth and west of the tile concentration in meter I/44 was cleaned down with brushes and mestaline.  Additional tiles were exposed to the west in meter I/43 at a depth of ca. 51 cm.  The soil around the tiles was light brown in color and contained a few, small rocks.  By contrast, the area cleared to the north in meter H/44 contained few tiles, but a great deal of rocks.  Additional clearing will be necessary to determine both the full extent of the tile concentration and the possible

relationship between the rocks and tiles.  Only two pieces of worn impasto pottery and three fragments of bone were discovered during clearing.
