August 10, 1969

Continuing work on the agger 3 extension we encoutered an area of stones ca 10.0 m W of the E end of the extension. The rest of this cu (to the W) also contained many stones, possibly associated with a wall?.After clearing the stones we left the area to be expanded in excavation of theĀ  W side of the agger 3.

We laid out Agger 5 N-S, 5.50 x 6.50 m adjacent to Agger 4, and began digging from the N end. Some wall plaster occured at the N end and 7 boxes of tiles were collected. Finds included:

  • frag of horserace frieze

  • 1.10m, 1.90m, 0.20m
  • corner of sima with rosette scar cut in


  • find 10
  • 1.10m, 1.90m, 0.20m
  • joins frag on p 141 #1
  • frag of waterspout


  • find 11
  • long flat piece of bronze with nick
