Did baulk walls, clipped roots and evened out trench in preparation of a declaration of Locus 2 across the entire trench. A significant amount of fist-sized rocks were found in the NE corner of the trench while troweling and cleaning the area. The defining of the rocks in the center have continued to reveal that the rocks exist in the southeast center are fairly deep. Because of the unusual rock spread that has been uncovered in the adjacent T-44 trenches, all the trenches will be brought to the same level and a large photograph will be taken, along with the individual Locus 2 photo, to document the spread.

PM

A new locus was declared across the entire trench to account for a soil change. the new locus soil is characterized by a lighter brown, less clumpy, sandy soil with far less

organic material.

Opening Elevations for Locus 2 (abs.) :

  • NW - 22.15 m
  • NE - 21.95 m
  • SW - 21.98 m
  • SE - 21.85 m
  • middle - 22.00 m

Removed tarp and took Locus 2 photograph and larger group photo of all T-44 A-D trenches. Picked western half of trench and picked it up. Found one peice of badly worn impasto pottery handle. Troweled eastern half due to an emergence of many fist-sized to smaller stones.

Material Yield

Locus 1 - 1 bowl of terracotta

Locus 2 - 1 impasto handle (pottery)

2 bowls of terracotta
