A.M.

We cleared the area of organic material and stones to prepare the trench for excavation.  A large tree remains at 146-147 E / 58-59 S.  Stumps remain at 144-145 E / 59-60 S  and near 146 E / 60 S (only half of this stump is inside the trench).

P.M.

We continued and finished clearing the area.  1/2 cassetta of bulk terracotta and 3 pieces of pottery were recovered during the clearing process.  No measurements were taken because we will open Locus 1 on Tuesday.  The afternoon was cut short by one hour due to rain.

We will began excavating on Tuesday.  The trench is located on the master grid plan between the coordinates 144-148 E and 58-60 S.
