The cut was photographed at its present size.  Work was continued to the north in order to define a gap in the wall which might be a doorway.  One large white stone is lying in the gap.  This can be an agger stone or remains of a threshold.

Tthe area around the white stone was cleared.  It contained only dirt and there were no signs of foundations.  it can therefore be assumed that we have another doorway here.

TESTCUT IN RECTANGLE 12

The big foxhole (buce) in R12 was cleared.  it cuts through the crosswall between R12 and R13 and it is therefore important to see if the lower foundations of this crosswall can be traced.  Much was actually destroyed when the hole was made.  The strata of the floor in R13 are, however, present at the edge of the holes, and it seems

safe to assume that there was a doorway in the crosswall.  This is under the assumption that also the inner walls of the Santuario have fairly deep foundations.  The stones found deeper down in the hole might be part of the foundations or belong to a structure different from the Sanctuario complex.

Found very few sherds and a rocchetto
