STRATEGY: Plan f268 and draw profile. Begin exploration of putative tholos in SE quadrant of trench.
SUMMARY: Plan of f268 and associated profile completed by mid morning. Exploration of the tholos began by marking possible inner faces of walls with nails, opening a shallow unit in the apparent centre of the feature and then working outward in order to define the actual wall edges. Lot 2025 consists of friable pise rubble filling the interior space of the structure, is sandy brown in colour and includes a very low density of artefacts and bone. Due to the insufficient depth of the excavation the soil on top of the tholos wall removed without detecting the feature; its approximate position was subsequently visible on the trowelled surface.
