Thursday July 31 1997

AM

Baulks were trimmed in locus 15 in order for the architect to draw the west sectino of T21. One latte carton of material was retieved during baulk trim, including 13 peices of bone, 17 redware, 1 coarseware, 5 creamware, and 82 impasto fragments, as well as 23 small tile fragments. Then continued extending locus 15 to the north.

2 cut antler or bone fragments, and iron slag, painted pottery sherd, adn 2 stamp decorated pottery fragements were found.

Tile and pottery count will be done in the end of the day.

Work continued in extending locus 15 north. Locus 15 was excavated to a depth of approximately 10cm bs, reaching total length of 2.9m. \xbd cassetta of tile fragments (1-17cm) and 6.5 latte cartons of bone and pottery were recovered during the day. 102 bone fragments, 529 impasto, 7 coarseware, 153 redware, 6 bucchero, and 5 creamware fragements were found. Afternoon finds included 2 impasto handles, a bucchero fragment with cylinder stamp decoration, 2 sherds of incised pottery, incisted impasto tondo, a piece of painted pottery, and 2 rocchetti (one with stamped decoration) which were uncovered in close vicinity of each other.
