Trowelled around the lower edges of the baulk walls in order to define the beginning of a new, slightly lighter and greyish soil layer. Along the northern, eastern, and southern edges of the trench, the previous day's closing depths are right at the level of this change; in the western edge, however, a few centimeters of the new soil type have already been removed. The new soil type will be designated Locus 3.
Picked and shovelled through new locus.

Continued lowering the trench. A galestra-type soil appeared in the western end of the trench by the end of the day, but we did not yet reach this level i nthe remainder of the trench.
