The tiles in E138-139/S23-24, north of the plaster concentration, were lifted, and work continued leveling the area to the orientalizing floor level.  Three of the tiles were taken to the magazzino: a nearly completed width of pantile (#1), a covertile with a preserved edge and portion of one end (#2), and a second covertile section preserving a complete end (#3).

The work leveling to the orientalizing floor will continue in the afternoon and all material recovery will be noted at that time.

Work also continued in the narrow 60 cm section of E140, removing more of the Locus 37 soil.  Pottery and the quantities will be recorded in the afternoon.

Work continued scraping down to floor level in E138-139/S23-24 in Locus 32.  This work produced 3 3/4 latte boxes of pottery and bone.  72 fragments of tile and terracotta were recovered.  Also discovered was an inscised fragment of bucchero (#4).

Work also continued in the 60 cm wide eastern extension, meters E140/S23-24.  This work produced 9 pottery fragments, 1 bone, and 23 pieces of tile and terracotta.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
