Description This is part of a room wall. Its condition was compromised, and to prevent the danger of its collapse, the lintel was removed. The composition of the reused hewn sandstones of varying sizes and shapes in the wall is uneven. The ashlars are wet laid and snecking stones are used as well as fired bricks and wet earth to support them. Large amounts of ash-ridden plaster and cement are also used to bond the stones together. It is assumed that this wall was plastered at the time it was constructed. I propose that the Locus 5 wall and this specific part were constructed at the time the Roman-Byzantine Bath Complex was constructed. The lintel is obviously reused, lifted from an earlier structure that existed at the Great Temple. The bath system seems to have been planned as a single unit and it appears that it is on the same axis of orientation as the Great Temple, northwest to southeast. This locus along with others of the bath complex appears to be self-contained elements in an overall design that physically distinguish different areas of the baths.
