Description Locus 5 was comprised of a gray, flaky, galestra-like soil that also contained patches of brown, mottled soil similar to that excavated in Locus 4. It seems likely that Locus 5, along with Loci 3, 4, and 7, form a stratum of redeposited galestra which has been identified as a post-archaic-building destruction horizon; it seems that after the archaic building was destroyed, galestra was scraped across the site of the building; this is represented by Loci 3, 4, 5, and 7 in T-48. These three loci can be associated due to the presence of galestra-like soil that was found in all three. Locus 5 was a deep and thick locus, averaging approximately 40cm in depth. When combined with Loci 3, 4, and 7, which in all likelyhood also consist of redeposited galestra, the post-archaic-destruction soil package averages approximately 60cm in depth. This is notable for this stratum of redeposited galestra was much thicker in T-48 than in other, nearby trenches that also contained strata composed of similar soil. Locus 5 contained a high quantity of material; 22.5 bowls of tile and plaster, 335 sherds of pottery, 77 pieces of bone, and 3 pieces of bronze were found in Locus 5.
