Description Locus 1 is the topsoil of Trench Tesoro 56. When opened, it extended through all of the trench, but Locus 2 was declared in its southern half. Locus 1 thus sits on top of Locus 2 in the south, and Locus 4 and 5 in the north. It can be seen in all four baulk walls in the top few centimeters and extends further down the N, the north half of the E, and the north meter of the E baulk. It is comprised of a brownish clay, and contains many organic inclusions such as decaying leaves, grubs, and roots. Finds included small amounts of terracotta, bone, and ceramic.
