| Description | Locus 58 is the doorway between the entrance room and the southwest room. Again, it is part of the larger construction of the bath complex, and so its east wall is an element of Locus 39, while its west wall is connected with Locus 81 (the southwest semicircular niche of the entrance room). This west side is still slightly obscured, as it is just out of the west balk of the southwest room. The doorway was later blocked (Locus 59). The doorway is constructed of hewn and finely dressed ashlars (which on the east face are door jams). Both sides are four courses high and two rows wide. As an integrated part of the bath complex, this locus is phased to Stage 3, the main construction period. |
