The soil ocvering unfired cover tiles in S,T,U-70-73 continued to be slowly cleaned down with hammer and mestaline.  It appears that these unfired cover tiles extend beneath this entire portion of unexcavated soil.  The unfired tiels were anywhere from 1-2 cm below the surface to ~15 cm below the surface of this unexcavated soil.  Tiles (normal, fried tiles) were found above the unfired cover tiles.  The soil was generally light brown-yellow with plaster and carbonized wood mixed within.

Also, the unfired cover tiles discovered last year in U,V,W-73-71 were further cleaned with brush and mestaline.

The trench also was swept, though there was not enough time to complete the sweeping of the trench.  Sand was brought to the site today.
