Continued work on cut 3 in grids W/62-64. There is a heavy concentration of plaster and tile in reddish, grainy soil in grid W/64 which progressively thins out towards western grids. Floor is encountered in W/63 at 60 cm and a burn layer right above it. The concentration of plaster close to the balk is very heavy. Several amorphous terracotta lumps were removed from this grid (W/63) and an entire terracotta "rabbit's" head was also removed which had been lying with the nose up right over the floor. There were many heavily burned, to the point of vitrification, tiles in W/63 and almost all the tiles found at this layer show some burn. There is also a fair amount of glassy slag. Several large concentrations of tile - large tile - were found - in the southern balk grid 63, in the eastern balk grid V-W and tangled iwth a tree stump in V/62. Also although there isn\'t much pottery [1 bag V-W/62-64] there is some very nice fineware - including bucchero and impasto.

Continue excavation on cut 3 in grids V&U/64-63 and a very heavy carbonized layer right over hwere floor is assumed to be. Soil change was noted - U/62 - Plaster stopped here and a yellowish loose clay soil appeared. In the reddish soil to the east tile and plaster still were present in great concentration.
