Work continued with pick and shovel removing the last of the topsoil on the eastern side of the trench.  One half of a cassetta of tile and two litre milk cartons of pottery were recovered.  The removal of the last of the topsoil exposed a medium brown compact clayey layer which has occasional hunks of tile on its surface.  Trowels were used to expose this layer completely.  On the west end it is 50 cm below the baulk, in the center it is 43 cm below the baulk, and on the east end it is 52 cm below the baulk.  Two coarseware bases were recovered, as well as a small bronze fragment.
