After looking at the cleaned baulk it was determined that the floor of the trench needs to be excavated in order to better understand the new flakey rock underneath the darker brown soil of locus 6. Soil was sorted into buckets and dumped. The amount of tile and pottery has decreased with this pass. While cleaning a piece of vitrified terracotta was found (SF #1). Along the northern border more of the flakey white/yellow soil has come up. Another pick pass was done in this meter (51-52 S). While picking a piece of ridged pottery was found (SF #2). The soil was sorted into buckets and dumped. While cleaning more of the flakey galestra in the eastern part of the pick pass, in the western part a hard packed soil was noticed along the wall. Next to this is a patch of moist sandy soil. A soil sample was taken down to the magazzino.
