Daily Log

July 25, 1969

Excavation of the agger was begun from the finishing poin of Ponny Small's Agger 2D of 1968 (see PS I 1968, pp.40-106). Plants and soil were cleaned form aroung the stones capping the agger. At the N end, the cross-cut in the agger was shaved 0.30 m on the E half in an attempt to detect walls; an additional 0.30 m vertical cut was made later, but neither cut revealed a definite wall (though a pile of stones toward the E remained a possibility). The E half of the agger is to be excavated first - th W half will beleft for comparative purposes.  boxes of tiles were collected and the following finds:
