Work began by continuing to trim the baulk walls, in preparation for the closing of Locus 5 in the original area of the trench, and the opening of Locus 7 throughout the entire trench, including the east extension.  While trimming the baulk walls, a bronze fragment (Find #1) was recovered.

Once the baulk walls were trimmed, the floor of the trench was scraped down to remove all loose dirt.  Once this was accomplished, closing photos for Locus 5 /opening photos for Locus 7 and closing elevations for Locus 5 /opening elevations for Locus 7 were taken:

Locus 7 was declared open and a pick pass was begun in the northeast corner of the locus.  The soil here is dark brown, clay-like, and mottled, containing inclusions of terracotta and carbon.  Soil was sorted in teh trench, directly into buckets.  During this pick pass, what may be a full profile of a vessel, if not teh whole vessel itself (Find #2) was recovered.

The pick pass begun in the morning was continued by picking the northwest corner of the trench.  The soil here remains brown, claylike, and mottled and continues to be sorted directly into buckets.  While sorting this soil, a large piece of bone with possible cut or butchering marks (Find #3) was found.

Once this soil was sorted and removed, the pick pass was continued, moving south.  Near the center of the trench, there seems to be a large nuimber of rocks, although the concentration does not seem dense enough to warrent the area being trowelled and defined.  Soil continues to be dark brown, clay-like, and mottled and is still sorted directly into buckets.

The pick pass was again continued to the south.  The soil remains primarily dark brown, claylike, and mottled, although there does seem to be some patches of galestra-like soil present; these patches though may be due to the present of certain rocks which when they fracture, create galestra-like soil.  During this pick pass, an odd piece of terracotta, which may be a cut-out akroterion fragment (Find #4) was recovered.
