Work started by picking in the north along the baulk wall and moved south to cover the entire trench.

Bronze

Locus 3

62.48 E / 39.49 S

89 cm BD / 27.08 m AE

The baulk walls were defined and leveled. After, pickpasses continued moving north to south. The soil continues to be filled with many small rocks and roots. Locus 4 was declared across the entire extension. The soil is consistent with Locus 2 and is a yellowish-brown clay like soil filled with rocks and roots. Opening photos and elevations were taken as well as aerial photographs.

Since there have been 5 pieces of slag found, they will now be bulk finds, including those found while sieving. Since we are at a locus contemporaneous with locus 2 , the buckets will now be sieved 1 in every 3. There has been a fair amount of slag appearing in the middle of the trench.
