Pottery: 4              Tile: 4

In S-E/61-62, a cut was made to the floor (10-15 cm) in order to uncover the colum base assumed to be here.  What appeared to be a badly worn column base was found in S-E/62.  The top was badly chipped away and damaged by roots.  It was preserved only to about 5 cm above the floor preserved in this area.  Although the soil was brown and root, a full cassetta of tile and plaster was found.  These were badly worn.  The floor apparently surrounds the base to the north, east, and west, and seems quite worn in places and damaged by roots.

In RST/83-5, the cut to the floor (10-40 cm) was continued slowly due to massive roots.  There was a column base in R/83 that appeared well preserved but was also mostly covered by a stump.  Another may be protruding from the QR/baulk at 85.  Of three boxes of pottery, most was impasto and orangeware with a little fineware. About 1/4 cassetta of assorted tile was collected from the area where the heads were lifted yesterday and brought down to the magazzino.  Two cassetti of tile were emptied and one of plaster. Only a few pieces of pottery were burned and the fragments of a pithos base.  The area where the tiles were in the floor was cleaned down also.

Pottery: 4              Tile: 2

In RST/83-5, excavation to the floor continued with several pieces of orma and yaw recovered.  A complete (length and width, missing tiny bit) cover tile was found lying directly on the floor in a burn area in S/84.

In N/85 a well-preserved rabbit head was found but damaged.  Several yaw fragments were found in the immediate vicinity.  This area had a great deal of both disintigrated and chunky plaster, as well as tile and a heavy burn layer right above the column base in MN/85 and the floor to the west of it.  The head also lies on top of this burn layer but was not burned, nor was the tile from here.  Amorpheus terracotta wastor clumps were also found here.

Some cleanup work was done on the covertiles in XY/73 for drawing.  The pithos in the baulk at ZY/57 was drawn and then started to be lifted.
