A.M.
A cut through L(M)/64-65 in order to establish a northern section of the K-L(M)/64-65 tile line feature was completed to a depth of 135cm. This section will now be drawn by the architect along with the remaining portion of the eastern baulk of K/64.
A cut was initiated in meters K-L(M)/68. The soil at a depth of cir. 115cm was dark brown with carbon inclusions. Although about 1 1/2 latte boxes of pottery have been removed in only a small portion of these two meters, the pottery tends to be very worn and fragmentary. High quantities of bone have also been found in this dark brown soil. This is infrequent and very worn and fragmented.
P.M.
Excavation continued in meters K-L(M)/68 to a depth of cir. 115-120cm through the dark brown soil with carbon inclusions. A cut to the same depth was initiated in meters L(M)/66-67 through the same type of soil.
Pottery in all of the meters was extremely concentrated, especially L(M)/68, which produced almost 4 latte boxes of ceramics. Meters L(M)/66-67 produced 2 boxes and K/68 produced one. Tile and pottery was very heavily worn and in small fragments. Only about 1/4 a cassetta of tile was found. Bone was also found in these meters in relatively high concentrations.
Notewworthy among this afternoons finds were a small piece of clean, wworked crystal with 12 sides(#5) and a small fragment of an impasto vessel with a raised bump(#9). The piece appears to be coil made. It was found in L(M)/67-8 on the meter border within the dark brown burned soil.
