Work continued in Trenches 18 and 19.

T-18 grids J-L/29-30:

Excavation continued in the yellow stratum, 50-60 cm below topsoil.  A heavy concentration of bucchero was found in grids K-L/29-30.  This area was cleared with the pottery left in place.  It appears to be a fall of 3 or 4 complete bucchero bowls.  Finds were entered in JN III, p. 175 .

  • 2 cassetti of tiles discarded

T-19 grids J-L/34-35:

The brown soil stratum was completely cleared up to the area of the surface rocks at the north end of the trench (grid M/34-35).  Work began on the harder, yellow soil stratum.

  • 1 1/2 cassetti of tiles discarded
  • 1 cassette of pottery
