A pick pass was completed in locus 4 . While picking, a fine impasto base fragment with a siglum scratched into the bottom was recovered (SF #1).

Soil was broken up by hand and with picks and trowels and sorted into buckets. While sorting, a piece of ridge pole tile was found (SF #2).

The soil in this locus is a dense clay with inclusions of small stones, carbon, and a white crumbly material. Large amounts of pottery (mainly impasto, but also coarseware and fine impasto) and tile have been
recovered along with a very small amount of bone.

No excavation was done in the trench as we were assisting in the excavation of VT-13 which abuts and is equivalent to VT-14's locus 4 . in
