1V A new trench was started, 1V, as a continuation of 1T along the wall for another 5m x 5.80. THe topsoil produced 3 boxes of tiles, but no tiles appeared underneath except for a few on top of the wall which continues right through the trench, possibly with a gap

for about 1.70 m beginning 0.50m facing the flat stones noticed in 1T July 12 p. 41 continued in 1V to form a rectanguale from the N till 2.85m facing S and a more irregularly formed construction which does not connect with the rectangle (?). The yellowish earth around the stones did not produce any sherds at this level. The trench was taken down to 20cm.
1U A new trench, 1U, was laid out (
) in hope of uncovering the west wall and southwest return. Topsoil was taken off, about one box of tiles found, and also one oddly-shaped (ridged) piece in the west wall of the trench.
