Work on sectioning the well in CA42 down to the excavating level was completed this morning. Five layers of stones were removed, making it total of 19 layers. The soil within the wall is extremely clayey and wet, clay having settled in layers that can be peeled apart. Few more carbon pieces were found within the soil of the well wall. As soon as the first layer of stones was taken apart several large pieces of terracotta became visibl filling the "aperture" underneath the fallen stones. As the sectioning progressed more terracotta fragments were exposed and it appears that in the lower portion of the excavated part of the well the "aperture" is filled with tile (pan tile flanges and cover tile parts are recognizable).

Differentitation between the wall stones and stones filling the "aperture" is clearly discernible in the section, elements of the wall being placed in layers, flat radial and regular. Most of the stones in dismantled part of the well are white and yellow limestone with exception of several green-black irregular stones which appear to be chacopirite. Within lower layers there are numerous air pockets.

8 small tile pieces, 2 impasto fragments (1 rim), a piece of plaster and a bone were found within soil of the well(locus 22). Photos were taken continuously during the sectioning of the well.

In CA42N work continued in locus 9, where sterile soil was reached at depth of 100-105cm b.d. The floor in meters N11 W8-9 was leveled and baulks trimmed. Then drawing of locus 16 was made.
