The unfired cover tiles in meters T-W,70-71 continued to be cleaned down with brushes and mestaline.  The floor of the entire trench was swept.  Another tractor load of sand was brought to the site.  This makes a total of 3 tractor loads, plus what was saved from uncovering the sand placed over the "floor" last year.  No more sand will be brought up to site this season.

P.M.

The trench floor continued to be swept.  A 15% PVA emulsion/water solution was painted on the unfired cover tiles discovered this year (meters T,U-70-73, U,V,W-70, and X,Y-71).  The unfired cover tiles discovered last year in U,V,W-71-73 were painted with PVA last year and will not be painted again this year (at least, this is the feeling at the moment).  Work

halted abruptly at 4 P.M. due to rain.
