A.M.

Mestilina were used as we continued excavation in K/65.  The heavy concentration of orangeware in L(M)/65-66 did not extend into this meter.  The soil was dark brown with evidence of carbon and burn.

The baulk of the remaining portion of K_L(M)/64 was drawn( p.19, TT III ).  At this point, we will taake the majority of L(M)/65 down to a depth of roughly 135cm and then draw the northern section of L(M)/65.  Hopefully, this process will help clarify the nature of of this tile line feature.  3 pieces of ridgepole have already been removed from L(M)/64 portion of the line, one of which prserves an attachment scar.  Additionally, another fragment of a fenestrated finial(#4) was found in L(M)/65 as we moved east towards the tile line.

The baulk of K/68-67 was partially scraped to run perpendicular to the trench floor.  During this work, a carved bone plaque with a guilloche was found on K/65 (#5).

P.M.

Work continued with mestilinas in L(M)/64-65 in order to take this area down to a level of 135cm to draw the northern section.  This cut is still incomplete.  At a depth of roughly 125cm, this area has produced a total of 1 1/2 lattes of pottery and a full cassetta of tile and plaster.  Additionally, approximately 50 fragments of pithos were excavated from this rather small area.

Another cut was initiated in L(M)/68 to a depth of 115cm.  Although only a small portion of this meter was excavated , about 1 full latte box of worn, burned pottery and bone was found.  The soil at this depth was dark brown with evidence of carbon.  Carbon was also found in sporadic pieces in the area of the tile line of K-L(M)/64-65.
