Diagram of Loci 15 and 16

The sounding carried out yesterday was extended north to encompass two more square meters.  This extension of the sounding was declared locus 16 .  Photos and elevations were taken.

NW(83-E/48-S): 25.70 m. above absolute elevation (93 cm. below datum point)

NE(85-E/48-S): 25.73 m. above absolute elevation (90 cm. below datum point)

SE(85-E/49-S): 25.60 m. above absolute elevation (103 cm. below datum point)

SW(83-E/49-S): 25.63 m. above absolute elevation (100 cm. below datum point)

Closing photos were taken of locus 10 .  The soil of locus 16 is olive-brown in color.  There are numerous stones in this locus.  This locus was excavated down to the level of the bottom of locus 15 where possible.  Several stones head-size and larger were removed during the course of excavation.  Large stones are appearing throughout this locus.  Where there are not stones in the bottom there is appearing degraded limestone and sterile soil.  Approximately 1/4 bowl of terracotta fragments was recovered.  Approximately 1/4 latte-box of pottery sherds was found plus one coarse ware sherd, along with three pieces of bone.  Three special finds were made.
